The Cohort That Defines Vietnamese Fashion
Vietnam's luxury fashion design sector is anchored by a small but increasingly internationally visible cohort of designers who operate at the intersection of Vietnamese cultural heritage, French colonial aesthetic legacy, and contemporary global fashion. Below are the six designers with the greatest current influence on how Vietnamese fashion is perceived both domestically and abroad.
Nguyễn Công Trí (CONG TRI)
Nguyễn Công Trí is Vietnam's most internationally recognised fashion designer. He debuted with his "Green Leaves" collection in 2000 and in 2014 became the first Vietnamese designer recognised by the Asian Couture Federation — a milestone that opened doors to Paris Fashion Week. The CONG TRI label is defined by opulent couture construction: architectural silhouettes, densely worked embroidery, and a fusion of Vietnamese textile heritage with Western haute couture technique. Celebrity clients include Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, Celine Dion, Margot Robbie, and Lisa of BLACKPINK. His "Em Hoa" collection was featured in Vogue. He also operates KIN Concept, a more accessible ready-to-wear line.
Đỗ Mạnh Cường (SIXDO)
Trained at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and having worked at Christian Dior and Dominique Sirop in Paris, Đỗ Mạnh Cường launched SIXDO in 2020 with entrepreneur Phạm Huy Cẩn. Known for three-dimensional floral embellishments, rosettes, polka dots, tweed, brocade, and organza, SIXDO debuted at New York Fashion Week for SS2024 and now operates across 60 showrooms in Vietnam. He represents the core of Vietnam's domestic luxury fashion market: aspirational enough to command premium pricing, culturally rooted enough to maintain strong local relevance.
Adrian Anh Tuấn (VALENCIANI)
Adrian Anh Tuấn occupies a distinct space among Vietnamese designers. His work at VALENCIANI features embroidery, lace, colour blocking, and butterfly motifs — signature occasion wear with the highest VIFW recurrence rate of any designer, confirmed across more than ten seasons since 2014. He also serves as Creative Director for ICE (IPP Group) and as a fashion columnist for AsiaLife. His flagship boutique is at 89 Mạc Thị Bưởi, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
Hà Duy
Hà Duy's signature is romantic femininity: lace, intricate embroidery, flowing silhouettes, and a colour palette anchored in whites, blushes, and deep jewel tones. His primary market is the bridal and formal occasion segment, where his designs command significant premium pricing within Vietnamese luxury. His commercial model is predominantly bespoke and made-to-order. At VIFW, his work is presented as evening couture, attracting the celebrity and social set that drives aspirational consumer behaviour.
Chung Thanh Phong
Chung Thanh Phong is Vietnam's most recognised voice in avant-garde fashion. His work is characterised by structural rigour, dark and complex colour stories, conceptual garment construction, and a willingness to prioritise artistic statement over commercial wearability. He is frequently cited by international fashion media as evidence of genuine creative ambition in Vietnamese fashion. His commercial operation is smaller than his peers by design — his value lies primarily in his critical reputation and what it signals about Vietnamese fashion's intellectual range.
Lê Thanh Hòa
Lê Thanh Hòa studied at HCMC University of Architecture (valedictorian), Raffles Design Institute Shanghai, and completed a Master's in Applied Fine Arts at Van Lang University. He founded his label in 2012. His celebrity clients include Paris Hilton, Halle Bailey, Jordan Chiles, Jeannie Mai, Bella Thorne, and Janet Yang (Academy President, 95th Oscars). He is listed on international retail platform Cult Mia and opened AVIFW SS 2025 with his "The Light of Water" collection.
